Formatting captions in the style guide wizard

Captions are titles for images, that can be cross-referenced, and listed in the contents at the front of a report or book.

Follow these steps

  1. Click "Assets" on the navigation panel
  2. Click "Presets" on the sidebar
  3. Click on the"Smart Lists" tab you wish to edit
  4. Click on the "Table of Contents" tab you wish to edit
  5. Click the template and the format menu will open
  6. Include refers to selecting the headings you wish to include in the Table of Contents; typically, only level 1 and 2 are included for the body and back matter (but a book might be different)
  7. The lower part of the format menu includes some options for indenting a heading, adding a separator line between the title and the page number, and where to locate the page number
  8. Make formatting changes using the upper element of the format menu; as required
  9. Click "Save changes"
  10. These changes will be automatically applied to any document that uses this style guide

Tips

  • There are five types of captions so there could be five types of lists; all formatted the same
  • Formatting captions is generally similar to paragraph text
