Find a style guide

Public styles can be applied to a document for citations, references, and typography.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click "Assets" on the navigation panel
  2. Click "Presets" on the sidebar
  3. Click the "Filter" icon and select "Public presets" from the drop list
  4. Click the category tab for "Journal"
  5. Find the journal you require and click the "Star" icon to add this journal style guide to "My Presets"
  6. The style guide selected style guide is now in "My Presets"
  7. Click the gold star to remove the style guide from "My Presets"


Types of Style Guides

  • Common styles relate to a range of common documents (e.g., report, essay, blog) and, typically, these have been created by the Support Desk
  • Academic styles have been created and maintained by the Support Desk for commonly used academic reference styles (e.g., APA, Harvard)
  • Institution styles are styles created for specific educational institutions that have been made public available (e.g., for students to use)
  • Journal styles are style for specific academic journals and have their citation, references, and typography captured

Tips:

  • Ask the Support Desk if you need a specific style that you cannot find
  • Advice the Support desk if you spot an error in a style and they will fix it within 24 hours
  • In any category click the open star to add the style guide
  • Click the closed star icon to remove the style guide from "My presets'
  • You cannot edit style guides you do not own. Save as new (see how).
