About Preset Styles

A single preset style guide stores all your typography choices for a specific document type (e.g., report, thesis, etc). Every document needs to have a style guide associated with it in the document settings.
The preset style guide populates the typography settings in the writing editor; effectively creating your personalized word processor.

Typography elements in the wizard

  • About: information about the style guide
  • Global Settings: page settings, margins, and URL format
  • Headings & Titles: titles (5) numbered, unnumbered (5), appendix (5_
  • Paragraphs & Quotes: 5 types
  • Lists: numbered and bulleted
  • Captions: 5 types
  • Headers & Footers for front matter, body, and back matter
  • References: select citation style
  • Smart Lists: format 8 lists that will be automatically generated during export
  • Terminology: format 6 lists that will be automatically generated during export

Tips:

  • Typography can be changed at any time
  • A Preset style gets associated with every document
  • The same preset style can be associated with many documents (usually of the same type; e.g., a report)
  • We are in the process of developing preset styles for 30,000 academic journals so you don't have to worry about it
